My Morning Rabbit Routine Meknes

Azmi's note My personal log from Meknes, not vet advice. Just what I did and saw tonight.

Hi, I’m Azmi from Meknes! This is my exact morning routine with my rabbit. I do the same steps every day so I can compare days in my sheet. No advice here, just what I do. I started this routine because my mornings were messy, sometimes I refilled water first, sometimes hay, sometimes I forgot the photo. After two weeks of random order, my notes were impossible to compare. So I fixed a 15-minute order and I have kept it for more than 30 days now.

This page is my personal log, not veterinary or care advice. Every rabbit is different. For health questions I contact a vet in Meknes. Here I only share housing, tidy habits, and how I take notes.

Why I keep the same order every morning

I wake up around 7:15 and I am in the rabbit corner by 7:30. The reason for a fixed order is simple: my sheet only works if days look alike. When I change the order, I cannot tell if hay disappeared because I refilled late or because appetite changed. With the same order, the one-line note means the same thing every day. My columns are date, water done, which hay spot was emptier, tidy time, and one photo number. That is all. I keep the sheet on paper on the shelf and I copy it to my phone on Sundays. Paper is faster in the morning when my hands are dusty with hay.

The second reason is calm. My rabbit knows the sounds now: curtains, bowl rinse, hay rustle, small broom. There is no chasing or lifting in the morning. I do not pick up for cuddles at 7:30. Hello is voice and hand sniff only. That keeps mornings predictable for both of us. Evenings are for play and flops, mornings are only water, hay, tidy, photo.

1. Hello and fresh water (7:30)

I say hello, open the curtains for soft light, and change the water bowl. I rinse the bowl, fill with clean water, and note the level in my sheet. In Meknes mornings are cool most of the year, so I also check that the corner mat is dry and flat. This takes me three minutes and sets the tone for the day. I use a heavy ceramic bowl that does not tip. I have a second identical bowl, so while one dries after rinsing, the other is in use. I rinse with plain water, wipe the rim with a clean cloth kept only for the bowl, and fill to the same line every day, about two fingers below the rim. That line helps me see at a glance how much disappeared overnight.

I also look, without touching much: is the mat dry, is the hide in place, is there an overturned toy blocking the path? I write water + mat in one line. If the mat is damp, I swap it for the dry spare and put the damp one on the balcony rail. In winter I open curtains halfway first because the tile is cold and direct sun makes a sharp hot stripe. In summer I open fully but I close the balcony door to keep the cool air inside until 9:00. Same step, tiny seasonal shift, and I note it with one letter in my sheet: W or S.

2. Hay top-up and quick tidy (7:35)

I top up two hay spots: the corner rack and a small pile near the hide. I note which spot was empty from last night. Then I sweep stray hay into a small box, shake the rug, and wipe the steel tray with a damp cloth. I write one line: hay taken, water done, tidy done. The rack is a small wall rack above the litter tray on one side. The floor pile is a loose handful near the hide entrance. Keeping two spots taught me something: the rack empties faster on most days, but on windy days the floor pile disappears first because my rabbit sits in the hide and snacks without crossing the room. I would never have seen that without two spots and a daily note.

My tidy tools live in a small bucket next to the corner: hand broom, dustpan, spare cloth, and a cardboard box for stray hay that I reuse as a chew tunnel later. I sweep only the corner and the one-meter path to the rug, not the whole room. Full-room cleaning is Sunday. Morning tidy is surface only: stray hay to box, shake the small rug outside the balcony door, wipe the steel tray edge with a cloth dampened with water only. Vinegar wipe is weekly, not daily, and I rinse after. I time this with my phone: 4 to 6 minutes. If I go over 8 minutes, I note why, usually a spilled bowl or a dragged mat.

3. Same-angle photo and one-line sheet (7:40)

I take one photo from the same spot each morning, so I can see how the setup changes. I stand at the door frame, phone at chest height, no flash, no zoom. Same angle means the hay rack is always top left and the hide is bottom right. If I zoom or move, comparison breaks. I number photos by date, like 2026-09-14-morning. In the sheet I write the photo number next to the hay note. That link is the whole value: photo plus one line. When I flip back a week, I can see rack position, mat fold, and hay fullness without trusting memory.

My sheet has five columns and I never add more in the morning. Date, water, hay emptier side, tidy minutes, photo number. Evening notes go on a separate page: play time, flop spot, zoomies yes or no. Keeping morning and evening apart keeps the morning fast. On Sundays I copy the week to my phone notes and I look for repeats. I do not calculate fancy stats, I just circle repeats with a pencil.

4. My log table, example week

Here is a copied week from my paper sheet, typed as-is. Left means the wall rack side, floor means the hide pile.

Mon: water done, left emptier, 5 min, photo 101. Tue: water done, left emptier, 4 min, photo 102. Wed: water done, left emptier, 6 min, dragged mat, photo 103. Thu: water done, floor emptier, windy night, hide snacking, 5 min, photo 104. Fri: water done, both even, 4 min, photo 105. Sat: water done, left emptier, 5 min, photo 106. Sun: full refresh day, 20 min, photo 107 plus mat wash photo. That Sunday line looks different and that is normal, Sunday is not a morning routine day, it is wash day.

5. What I learned after 30 days in Meknes

After a month of the same order, my sheet shows patterns. My rabbit eats more hay on days I refill both spots early. The corner stays cleaner when I shake the rug in the morning instead of evening. Morning shake means the evening flop spot stays clean, and I wrote about those flop spots in my flop diary. Another pattern: water level drops more on warm sirocco days even though I change at the same hour. I do not interpret that, I just note W for warm and keep the bowl line identical so the note stays honest.

Meknes seasons changed two details. In cool months October to March, the tile is cold until 9:00, so I keep the washable mat flat and the hide blanket folded once. In hot months June to August, I lift the blanket completely in the morning and I check the water again at 13:00, that second check is not part of this morning log, I note it on the evening page. The morning step itself never changes, only the mat fold and curtain half versus full. Friends in Meknes asked for my checklist, so here it is: water, hay both spots, 5-minute tidy, one same-angle photo, one line in the sheet. That is all.

6. Busy-day version and mistakes I fixed

On work days I do a 5-minute version: water rinse-fill, hay handful both spots, sweep only the tray edge, photo, one line. I skip rug shake and I write NS for no-shake. Later I can see NS days cluster with messier Sundays. That taught me rug shake matters more than perfect wipe. Three mistakes I fixed: first, I used to refill only the rack, floor pile days showed me the hide snack habit, so now both spots always. Second, I wiped with a scented cloth once and my rabbit avoided the tray for hours, now water-only cloth in the morning, kept separate. Third, I took photos from different angles, useless for comparison, now door frame mark with tape on the floor where my feet go.

If you try a routine, keep it small and repeatable. My evening check is a separate note where I log play and rest. This morning part is only about starting clean and calm. Start with three lines for seven days before adding anything. My full sheet only grew after week three, when I added the photo number column because I kept forgetting which photo matched which day.

Morning photos are mine, taken at the door frame before the day starts. Dates in captions match my sheet. For any health, appetite loss, or water refusal lasting more than a day, I contact a vet, this log is housing and habit notes only.
