1. What I use
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| WordPress test cookie | Checks your browser accepts cookies at login (admin only) | Session |
| comment_author_* | Remembers your name and email in the comment form, only if you tick “save my details” | About 1 year |
| azmi_rn_opt | Remembers your reply-alert choice so the notify box is pre-ticked next visit, only if you subscribe | 1 year |
| _ga | Google Analytics 4 (G-8VPMZFKZ1T): distinguishes visits to count which entries are read | 2 years |
| _ga_8VPMZFKZ1T | Google Analytics 4 (G-8VPMZFKZ1T): keeps session state for the same visit measurement | 2 years |
Analytics cookies above are set by gtag.js loaded from www.googletagmanager.com on every page (except admin logins). No advertising cookies are set. See Privacy Policy section 3 for what GA4 measures and where Google processes it.
2. How to control cookies
- On this site: the two comment cookies above are optional and set only when you tick the matching box. Analytics cookies run on page load with no banner; to opt out, block third-party cookies, use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, or use a content blocker.
- In your browser: block or delete cookies in Settings. Guides: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge help pages. Blocking _ga cookies stops future analytics counting but does not delete past aggregated reports.
3. Do Not Track
I do not currently respond to Do Not Track signals, because there is no common standard. Your browser cookie controls and the GA4 opt-out add-on work regardless.
4. Updates
When I add new cookies I update the table above, bump the date, and add consent controls where required. Latest change: 14 October 2026 – Google Analytics 4 (G-8VPMZFKZ1T) added. Previous: 13 October 2026 – comment and reply-alert cookies added.
