The short version: the values you type into a calculator never leave your device. All computation happens in your browser.

Information we do not collect

SoilTune has no user accounts, no login, and no database of inputs. Soil test results, field areas, target pH values, water chemistry and fertilizer recipes you enter are processed locally in JavaScript and are not transmitted to us, stored by us, or readable by us.

The single exception is the contact form, where you decide to tell us something: see Information you choose to give us below. Aside from that, we do not sell, rent or share personal information, because apart from the contact form we do not collect it.

Information you choose to give us

When you send a message through the contact form we receive and process:

your first name, last name and email address, so we can reply, and so a later message from you can be matched to the earlier one;
the topic you pick and your message, including anything you paste in about a soil test or a calculator result;
the submission's IP address and timestamp, which the server records for rate limiting and spam prevention, and which are also written to the standard request logs described above.

Purpose and legal basis. We use these details only to answer you and to keep a record of the exchange while it is open. The form cannot be submitted without ticking the consent box, which is our legal basis for EEA and UK visitors under the GDPR; if you are elsewhere, we rely on our legitimate interest in replying to a message you deliberately sent us. Submission is also rate limited (five messages per ten minutes from one address), which is why the IP address is held for a few minutes beyond the message itself.

Who else sees it. New messages are posted to a Discord channel the publisher reads, so a request is picked up quickly. That notification carries your name, email address, IP address and message, and is processed by Discord under Discord's own privacy policy. Nothing else about you is shared: no advertising network, analytics service or mailing list receives contact-form data.

Retention. Your message is written to the site's inquiry log, where it stays so that a follow-up can be read in context. Log entries are kept for as long as the request and any follow-up need them, and are deleted sooner if you ask us to delete them.

Your rights and what we do not do. You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to the processing: use the contact form, choose "Other", and say in the message that it is a privacy request. We do not sell, rent or share this information for marketing, we do not add it to any mailing list, and it is never used to target advertising at you. Information that may be processed automatically

Like most websites, the server that hosts soiltune.com receives standard request logs: IP address, requested path, user agent, referrer, timestamp and response code. These logs exist for security, abuse prevention and aggregate traffic statistics. They are not linked to anything you enter in a calculator, because those values are never sent in a request.

Page-level traffic is also measured by Matomo, which we host ourselves. It sees which pages are requested and which calculators get used, never the inputs, because those never leave your device. Details are under Cookies and advertising.

Local storage

A few calculators remember your most recent inputs or preferred units using your browser's local storage, so the tool opens with your last session instead of blank defaults. This data stays in your browser. You can clear it at any time through your browser's site-data settings, and clearing it does not affect anything stored by us, because nothing is.

Cookies and advertising

SoilTune sets no cookies of its own, no session, no account, no saved preferences. A consent banner and the three scripts it governs are the only reason a cookie is ever written on this domain, and none of the three runs until you accept it. Their exact markup is published at soiltune.com/scripts.txt, this section describes that file, and the per-cookie inventory lives in the cookie policy.

CookieYes, the consent banner itself. It writes one cookie, cookieyes-consent, which records what you accepted so the banner does not ask again (for up to a year) and gates the three scripts below until you do.
Google Tag Manager (container GTM-T9HTD53X). It is a loader and sets no cookie by itself; it injects whichever other tags the container has been configured to run, and those tags may set cookies. It is governed by Google's privacy policy.
Google AdSense (publisher ID ca-pub-4144261797965451). Advertising scripts from pagead2.googlesyndication.com are loaded so that ads can be served and measured. Google and its partners may set cookies to personalise and limit the ads you see, attribute conversions, and cap how often an ad appears. You can change ad personalisation in Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party advertising cookies entirely through the industry opt-out pages run by the Digital Advertising Alliance or the Network Advertising Initiative.
Matomo, self-hosted by us at analytics.soiltune.com (site ID 1). An open-source analytics tool we run on our own infrastructure, page views, referrers, device type and country are recorded so we know which calculators are actually used. It writes first-party cookies on *.soiltune.com to tell one visit from the next. Your calculator inputs are not involved: they never reach our server, so they cannot reach Matomo either.

You can refuse all of it without losing anything, and until you accept in the banner, not one of the three has run at all. The cookie policy explains how to reopen the banner and change your answer later. Declining ad personalisation in Google Ads Settings stops AdSense from targeting you; deleting or blocking cookies for soiltune.com stops Matomo from recognising you across visits; an ad-blocker, or simply blocking the googletagmanager.com, googlesyndication.com and analytics.soiltune.com hosts, silences the lot. None of those choices affects a single result: every calculation runs in your browser regardless.

Google advertising

This site displays advertising through Google AdSense. The following is Google's own required disclosure of what that involves, and it applies to your visit to this site:

Google's use of the DoubleClick cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You may visit those vendors' and networks' own websites to opt out of their use of cookies for personalized advertising where they offer that capability, or opt out of some of them at once through www.aboutads.info.

The list of ad networks and third-party vendors serving ads on this site is: Google AdSense, the only one.

California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA) gives you the rights described in this section. We extend the same handling to every visitor covered by another US state privacy law, and this section should be read together with the rest of this policy: categories below are only the ones this site can actually see.

What we collected, and why

In the previous 12 months we have collected and used these categories of personal information, and no others:

Identifiers: first name, last name and email address, plus the IP address of the machine that submitted the contact form. Collected from you, when you send a message; used only to reply, to match a later message to the earlier one, and for rate limiting and spam prevention.
Internet activity: the standard server request logs (IP address, path, user agent, referrer, timestamp, response code) and, once you accept it in the banner, page-level Matomo metrics such as which pages are requested and which calculators get used. Collected automatically from your browser; used for security, abuse prevention and aggregate traffic statistics. Never linked to a calculator input, because those values are never sent in a request.
Geolocation: country or region only, inferred from your IP address. We never collect precise location, and we have no way to place you more accurately than a country.
Sensitive personal information: none. No Social Security number, driver's licence number, account credentials, financial account, health detail, racial or ethnic origin, or precise geolocation is collected by this site for any purpose.

We buy no data about you from brokers, receive none from other businesses, and build no profile beyond the entries in your own message. The categories above are used for the purposes stated alongside them, and are disclosed to exactly two kinds of recipient: the people who operate the service (our host, and Discord for the one notification described in Information you choose to give us), and (only if you accept the advertising category in the banner), Google, as the ad network serving ads on these pages. Retention is the period stated for each category earlier in this policy.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Neither for money or any other valuable consideration, nor by making it available to a third party who will use it to advertise to you on someone else's site. There is no exception to that sentence, no "except as required by law" carve-out to decode, and no list of partners to opt out of, because there is no such list: the only advertising network on this site is Google AdSense, named in Google advertising above.

So there is nothing for a "Do Not Sell or Share" button to switch off on our side. You still control the advertising itself, and the choices below are the ones that matter:

On this site: refuse the advertising category in the consent banner (or reopen it any time from the cookie policy), and no AdSense script is ever requested.
Across Google's properties: Google Ads Settings turns off personalised advertising, and aboutads.info or the Network Advertising Initiative opt you out of many networks at once.
Automatically: we treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, and a Do Not Track header, as your standing opt-out: we will not sell or share anything identified by that signal, and because every non-essential script on this site waits for your explicit accept in the banner, the default state a GPC browser arrives to is already "off". Nothing is required of you to make that true.

The rights you have

Right to know: what categories of personal information we collected about you, where it came from, why we use it, who we disclosed it to, and the specific pieces themselves.
Right to delete: ask us to delete personal information we hold about you, subject to the exceptions the law keeps (information we must retain to complete your request, to detect security incidents, or to comply with a legal obligation).
Right to correct: ask us to fix inaccurate personal information.
Right to opt out of sale or sharing: exercised through the choices in the section above; as stated, we do neither.
Right to limit the use of sensitive personal information, we do not use sensitive personal information for any purpose the law lets you limit, because we do not collect it.
Right not to be discriminated against: we will not deny you service, charge you a different price, or give you a different quality of service because you exercised a privacy right. We run no loyalty scheme and no financial-incentive program, so there is no joining and nothing to withdraw from.

How to make a request

Use the contact form, choose "Other", and say in the message that it is a privacy request and which right you want to exercise. The same request can be sent by email to [email protected] instead; there is no request portal. You may also authorize an agent to do this for you, in which case we will ask the agent for written permission to act on your behalf and for enough information to confirm that you really asked.

We confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 days; if we need the one further extension the CCPA allows, we tell you inside the first 45 days and answer within 90. Before answering we verify that the person asking is really you (normally by matching the details already in your message), because handing your data to an imposter would be the exact failure this right exists to prevent. Requests are free. Requests from EEA and UK visitors are answered under the GDPR instead, without undue delay and within one month.

Third-party resources

Some pages load MathJax from a public CDN in order to typeset chemical and mathematical notation. Requesting that resource discloses your IP address to the CDN operator, as with any web request. Fonts, icons and the calculator code itself are served from our own domain.

Children's privacy

This site is a technical tool intended for professional and educational use. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the revision date above will be updated. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
