My Dirt Pile: Watching the Poop-to-Dirt Ratio

My Dirt Pile: Watching The Poop To Dirt Ratio
same angle, same light my log photo
Azmi's note My personal log from Meknes, not vet advice. Just what I did and saw tonight.

Soon enough, the ratio of poops to dirt will skew. My dirt pile grows daily: dug, scattered, napped in, dug again. An empire of dirt, and I am just the groundskeeper. This post is the groundskeeper’s log: pile growth records, the ratio watch, erosion tracking, and the digging philosophy. Personal digging-diary, not landscaping advice. Gorgeous fat face of the chief excavator included for scale. The earth thief returns everything eventually.

Dirt log: growth and ratio

  • Dig box topped up weekly, soil only, no chemicals, plain topsoil, sifted, depth maintained 15 cm
  • Poops scooped daily so the ratio stays honest, morning scoop, count noted; the ratio is the diary’s oddest metric and its most useful (appetite visible in output, vet-confirmed as sensible watching)
  • Photo the pile monthly: erosion tracking, same angle first Sundays; scatter radius measured in tiles (peak: 4 tiles, post-zoomie March)

Excavation reports and philosophy

Digging is joy, not mischief. Session log sample: Monday 20-minute crater session (focused, both paws), Wednesday scatter-and-nap (dig then sleep in it, the full cycle), Friday tunnel attempt (ambitious, collapsed adorably, rebuilt by me). My floors are protected (digging legal only in the box, redirection by carrot… by parsley placement, 100% success), the pile is legal, everybody wins. Related earthworks: the litter-corner maintenance (scoop discipline shared) and the room-corner layout (dig box positioned for mess containment). Empire status: growing daily, groundskeeper content, excavator napping on the job.

Excavation seasons and pile physics

Seasonal digging data: spring peak (20-minute sessions, daily), summer siesta (heat pauses digging, pile rests), autumn second wind (tunnel attempts resume), winter indoor focus (box gets full attention). Pile physics observed: crater depth max 12 cm (box limit respected), scatter radius 4 tiles (post-zoomie record), nap-compatibility 100% (dug then slept in, every time). The poop-to-dirt ratio, tracked honestly: scooped mornings read clean-dirt (good), skipped mornings skew fast (lesson: never skip, the ratio punishes laziness within 24 hours). Erosion photo series: 6 months of first-Sundays show the pile migrating toward the sunny corner (geology in miniature). Gorgeous fat face scale reference in every frame, the chief excavator photobombs his own survey monthly. Empire measured, mapped, napped in.

Groundskeeper’s charter

Charter posted above the dig box: soil only (no chemicals, ever, vet-approved caution), top-ups weekly (depth 15 cm maintained), scoops daily (ratio honesty), photos monthly (erosion record), naps permitted (mandatory, even). Digging is joy, not mischief, the charter’s founding principle, defended against all tidy instincts. Floor protection verified quarterly (barriers holding, no escape digs). The earth thief returns everything eventually, scattered soil swept back weekly, cycle complete. Empire of dirt, groundskeeper content, excavator employed full-time. Dig on.

Groundskeeper’s year in review: 12 erosion photos (pile drifting sunward all year), 300+ scoops (ratio honest throughout), 4 top-ups (soil fresh quarterly), 0 escape digs (barriers holding), infinite naps (in and on the pile). Ratio records: cleanest March (diligent scooping), skewiest August (holiday lapse, corrected). Excavator performance review: diligent, joyful, photogenic, raise issued in parsley. Empire outlook: growing, mapped, beloved. The earth thief returns everything; the groundskeeper sweeps the rest. Dirt forever.

Pile forecast: spring peak incoming (sessions lengthening already), summer siesta after (heat pauses all digging), autumn tunnels next (ambition season). Groundskeeper calendar marked: top-ups quarterly, photos monthly, scoops daily, naps permitted always. Empire expansion funds approved (extra soil budgeted). Excavator morale: peak. Dirt destiny: glorious. Digging forever, joyfully.

Groundskeeper’s toolshed inventory: spare soil bagged (quarterly stash), scoop dedicated (never borrowed), camera charged (erosion waits for no one), broom stationed (scatter patrol). Tool maintenance: scoop washed weekly, broom bristles checked, camera lens wiped (dust lies about erosion). Shed motto: honest ratio through clean tools. Empire upkeep: daily minutes, monthly photos, quarterly soil. Excavator inspects tools nightly (chews the broom handle, quality control). Dirt managed; joy unmanaged, overflowing.

Empire report filed: growing daily, mapped monthly, napped in constantly. Ratio honest through daily scoops; erosion tracked through monthly photos. Groundskeeper content; excavator employed; dirt glorious. Pile forever; joy always.

Groundskeeper logging; excavator digging; empire growing daily.

Excavator profile: chief digger qualified by volume (daily sessions), technique (both-paw rotary), and dedication (rain or shine, mood regardless). Rest periods: naps in the crater (full cycle: dig, scatter, sleep). Tool review: paws excellent, nose adequate for surveying, ears uninvolved (held back elegantly). Performance review: exceeds expectations, raise in parsley, tenure permanent. Groundskeeper’s counterpart in every way that matters.

Ratio science: a month of numbers

Thirty mornings of scoop counts, condensed: clean-dirt days 24 (scooped daily, ratio honest), skew warnings 4 (all after skipped mornings, cause identified, laziness indicted), deep-clean resets 2 (quarterly rhythm). The ratio punishes laziness within 24 hours and rewards diligence immediately, the most responsive metric in the diary. Seasonal overlay: spring digging peaks the pile (sessions longest), summer heat flattens it (siestas replace craters), autumn tunnels spike ambition (collapse rate high, comedy higher). Erosion photos confirm the drift: sunward migration, 6 tiles over 6 months (geology at bunny speed). Numbers honest, pile glorious, groundskeeper vindicated daily.
