Bed Takeover Log: Who Owns the Bed?

Hi, I’m Azmi from Meknes! My bed is no longer mine. Every afternoon around 16:00 my rabbit hops onto the bed, circles once, and flops against the pillow. I started logging it because friends laughed when I said I sleep on the edge. This is my personal log, not advice. Every rabbit is different. For health or behavior worries I contact a vet. Here I only share my cover system, my photo method, and what my sheet showed.
My bed setup: cover + floor hay
My routine now: lay a washable cover, place a small hay pile on the floor nearby, and let him settle. The cover is a 140 by 200 cm cotton throw folded in half over the left side only, that is his side. My side stays uncovered so I can see at a glance if hay traveled. Under the cover I keep the normal sheet, no plastic, no scented protector. The floor hay pile is a loose handful in a low cardboard tray next to the bed leg. That tray matters: on days I forgot it, he pulled hay from the bed cover onto the sheet. With the tray present, bed hay stays minimal. I take one photo from the door so I do not disturb. Door frame, chest height, no flash. Same angle means pillow top-left, cover edge diagonal. If I step closer, he lifts his head and the flop breaks, so door distance stays.
How I log it
Bed logging stays identical daily so evenings compare: door photo, hop/flop times, one line. I note time, place, and what I saw. Time is hop-on time, not flop time, example 16:05 hop, 16:12 flop pillow corner. Place is pillow, middle, or foot. Context is after play, after tidy, or quiet day. Friends borrow the log shape at their own risk, every rabbit differs; my week table and same-week photos sit below.

| Day | Hop / flop | Spot | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mon | 16:04 / 16:11 | Pillow corner | After play, stayed 40 min |
| Tue | 16:10 / 16:18 | Pillow corner | After tidy, 35 min |
| Wed | 15:55 / 16:02 | Middle edge | Windy, shorter 20 min |
| Thu | 16:06 / 16:12 | Pillow corner | Quiet day, 50 min |
| Fri | 16:02 / 16:09 | Pillow corner | Guest voice, still came |
| Sat | 16:20 / 16:28 | Foot | Late lunch, brief 15 min |
| Sun | 16:05 / 16:10 | Pillow corner | Cover wash day, fresh cover |
What my weeks showed: six of seven pillow corner
One week of evenings made the pattern obvious. The same corner chosen six days out of seven if I count Wed middle-edge as the outlier. Week two repeated: five of seven pillow corner. Week three: six of seven again. After three weeks, pillow corner wins 17 of 21 days. Duration averages 35 minutes, longest 55 on a rainy Thu when the room was dim. Shortest visits match late starts after 16:15, late hop means brief stay. That taught me to lay the cover by 15:50 even if I am busy. Late cover equals missed flop in my notes.
Wash rhythm: I wash the cover every three days and shake it daily. Shake is balcony, 20 seconds, morning after the bed is free. Wash is machine 30 degrees, no softener, sun-dry on the rail. I note wash dates with W in the sheet. Fresh-cover days show faster flop, within 6 minutes versus 10 on day three. I do not claim rabbits prefer fresh laundry, I only note my hop-to-flop gap shrank on W days in three consecutive cycles. Smell score stays 0 with this rhythm. When I stretched to four days once during travel, score went to 1 and hay dust doubled on the sheet, back to three days after that.
Mistakes and small fixes
Three fixes. One: I first covered the whole bed, too much laundry, too hot. Half cover won. Two: I placed hay on the bed, sheet mess. Floor tray by the leg fixed it. Three: I photographed close, broke flops. Door photo fixed it. The routine takes less than ten minutes once the spots are fixed: cover unfold 1 min, tray handful 1 min, photo 30 seconds, evening shake 2 min. Washable everything, photo before tidy, honest comparisons only.
If you share a bed, keep a dedicated cover and a fixed tidy time. Starting a bed log? Keep it tiny: date, door photo, one line. A month of door photos becomes an album and a habit. That’s the diary’s whole job, Meknes evenings, no grand claims, just notes. This bed page will join my full-day sheet next, 16:00 flop bridging afternoon play and the 19:20 tile flop. For chewing on bedding or litter misses on the bed, I pause the cute log and review setup first, vet if it persists.

Bed photos mine, all shot from the doorway so the flop survives. Not vet advice. Housing and habit notes only.
Cover seasons: summer swaps the throw for a lighter cotton (same left-side fold, cooler nights recorded), winter adds the blanket square doubled. The flop survives both wardrobes, pillow corner, 16:00, all year.
Door photo daily; pillow corner reigns.
