Peekaboo From the Upper Deck

Peekaboo From The Upper Deck
same angle, same light my log photo
Azmi's note My personal log from Meknes, not vet advice. Just what I did and saw tonight.

Quiet house. Too quiet. Then two ears over the upper deck edge: peekaboo. Checking the weather, supervising the room, gone again before I could stand up. This post is the surveillance report: quiet-house alert levels, the deck safety file, and the sighting log. Personal fun log, not housing advice, heights get respect in my house; the ramp and rails below are the whole system. Dangerous quiet means a surprise is loading. Tonight it was a cute one.

Alert levels: reading the quiet

Level green: normal rustling, hay audible, no action. Level yellow: sudden silence after activity (tonight’s case, 5 minutes of nothing at 19:10). Level orange: silence plus thump history that day (investigate on foot). Level red: silence plus crash sounds (respond immediately, happened once, fallen book, bunny innocent, book guilty). Tonight held at yellow for 5 minutes before the ears breached the deck edge. Near heart attack confirmed cute, not jumpscare, the ears-first reveal is the gentlest possible alarm. Five minutes of silence in a bunny house always means something is loading; the log’s loading-screen moments catalogued: peekaboo (tonight), tunnel ambush (March), behind-the-curtain ears (April).

Upper-deck safety and the sighting log

  • Ramp sturdy, edges blocked, landing rug down, inspected weekly, wobble test passed every time
  • Never lift them up there, let them climb, all ascents voluntary, logged as climbs not placements
  • Photo from floor level, no chasing, the ears photo took 3 evenings of waiting (patience, the actual technique)

Upper deck weather checked (favorable), room supervised (thoroughly), danger-quiet resolved into peekaboo. The deck serves as lookout, nap loft, and hay-restaurant with a view, triple-zoned per the room-corner map. Evening pattern since: quiet 19:05, ears 19:10, supervision 5 minutes, departure 19:15, flop 19:20 on the tile (schedule like clockwork). Danger-quiet remains my favorite alarm, loading cute, delivering ears, resolving to flops.

Sighting log: a week of ears

Monday 19:10: two ears, 5-minute supervision, departure flop. Tuesday: no show (quiet all evening, green level, no action). Wednesday 19:08: full head plus shoulders, 8-minute inspection, toy relocated mid-visit (supervision with benefits). Thursday: double appearance (19:05 and 21:30, encore rare, logged with star). Friday: ears only, 30 seconds (cameo, beloved). Saturday: full upper-body plus yawn (exclusive content, burst-shot secured). Weekly total: 5 sightings, 1 encore, 1 yawn. Pattern: post-dinner patrol before flop hour, the deck serves as evening briefing room. Quiet-house alerts calibrated: yellow means wait (ears incoming 4 of 5 times), orange means check (thump history consulted), red means move (once ever, book incident).

Deck life: triple zoning

Lookout mornings (weather checked, pigeons noted), nap loft afternoons (sun stripe claimed 14:00-15:30), hay-restaurant evenings (dinner with a view before flop hour). Triple-zoned per the room map, all uses logged without conflict. Maintenance: ramp screws checked monthly, rail wipe weekly, landing rug shaken daily. Tenancy: shared with the tunnel (stored beneath, retrieved nightly). The deck’s finest hour: Thursday’s encore under moonlight hallway glow, silhouette ears, 2 minutes, no photo (too dark, memory kept instead). Some sightings are for the log; the best are for keeping. Peekaboo forever, upper deck eternal.

Surveillance report filed: week complete, 5 sightings, 1 encore, 1 yawn, 0 incidents. Alert calibration holding (yellow means wait, orange means check, red thankfully theoretical since the book). Ramp sound, rails firm, rug flat, deck certified for another season. Danger-quiet remains the favorite alarm in the house: always loading, always cute, always resolving to ears and then flops. Watch the quiet; log the ears; love the peekaboo.

Night watch addendum: deck camera (phone propped, night mode) captured Thursday’s encore in silhouette, filed as the surveillance crown jewel. Quiet-house mastery: I now distinguish loading silences (good) from empty silences (just quiet) by ear position memory. Five minutes remains the magic number; ears remain the magic sight. Peekaboo protocol complete; upper deck eternal; flops on schedule. Silence, ears, joy.

Deck logbook opened permanently: sightings dated, durations timed, departures flopped. The upper deck joins the room’s institutions, corner, tunnel, tile, deck. Four stations of the evening cross, patrolled in order. Quiet house protocol matured: silence savored, ears awaited, joy delivered. Peekaboo institutionalized; surveillance beloved.

Ears over the edge, room supervised, flop on schedule. The deck watch never sleeps (naps between sightings). Quiet loading, cute delivered.

Deck seasons preview: summer brings sunset patrols (golden-hour ears, legendary lighting), autumn brings early-dark watches (lamp-lit silhouette season), winter brings snow-line observations (weather checked from warmth). The deck serves year-round; the log follows. Ramp winterized with grip tape (November job, scheduled), rails checked quarterly, rug doubled in cold months. Upper-deck eternal, all-weather, all-ears. The quiet will load; the ears will breach; the flop will follow. Forever protocol.

Ears breached, room supervised, flop achieved. Deck watch holds; quiet loads; cute delivers nightly.

Peekaboo forever; flops on schedule.

Quiet loading; ears incoming nightly.

Eternal.

The deck holds its watch; the quiet holds its promise.

The deck watch continues tomorrow with fresh hay below the ramp and the camera angled at the edge. Tonight brought two breaches and one legendary flop, so the quiet earned its keep after all.
