My Favorite Spot Makeover: Before and After

Hi, I’m Azmi from Meknes! Their favorite lounging spot got a makeover: a washable rug, a low cushion edge, and a nearby hay pile. This is my personal home log, not decor advice. I share costs in general terms only, small, and focus on wash rhythm and flop counts. For skin, chewing foam, or allergies I contact a vet. Here only cotton rug, no foam inside reach.
Before Monday, after Sunday: same chair height
I took before photos on Monday and after photos on Sunday from the same chair height. Chair is the wooden chair 2 meters away, phone on the seat edge, no zoom. Before: bare tile plus thin old mat curled at the edge. After: 90 by 60 washable rug flat, low cushion edge 10 cm high along the wall side, hay pile in a low tray 40 cm away. The cushion edge is a rolled cotton blanket, not foam, nothing chewable-exposed. The log shows lounging moved fully to the new rug within two days. Day one: 2 of 3 rests on rug. Day two onward: all rests on rug in my notes. Tile next to it stayed empty for a week except one warm afternoon.
How I log it
Spot checks run 18:00 plus 21:00 nightly: rug-versus-tile count, one line. Hour is 18:00 check plus 21:00 night line. Line is rug versus tile plus wash mark. Example: rug 2 / tile 0. Shapes travel, contents don’t, every rabbit differs; table and week photos below.

| Day | Rug / tile rests | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Mon | 2 / 1 | Before pm, after am, mixed day |
| Wed | 3 / 0 | Full move, flop photo |
| Fri | 2 / 0 | Quiet, long flop 30 min |
| Sun | 3 / 0 | Weekly review, wash check |
Wash rhythm and wear
Laundry is weekly, shake-out daily. Shake is 30 seconds at the door each morning. Wash is machine 30 degrees no softener, sun-dry flat, never hanging by corners or it stretches. I note wash dates in my sheet so I know when the rug thins. After six washes my photo strip shows edge stitch intact, center pile slightly flatter where flops land. That flat patch marks the favorite flop point better than my notes, visible wear map. Cost was small, effect was big: the tile stays cleaner and the flop photos cluster on the rug. Tile sweep dropped from daily handful to every-other-day pinch because hay stays on the rug for pickup. Rug shake collects it in seconds.
Seven days mapped the rug’s takeover. Minutes only, once the rug lay flat. Washable rug, photo before shake-out, honest wear record. Keep one spot, photograph it, wash on schedule. Logging a spot? One line: rug count, tile count, wash mark. A month of rug photos mapped the wear patch. One spot done well, the makeover log’s entire argument. Rug flops and tile flops will read as one rest story once linked to my flop diary. If rug chewing starts or threads loosen, I remove the rug that day and pause the test.

Makeover before-and-after shots taken by me from the chair seat. Not vet advice. Home setup notes only.
Wear map, chew watch and rug rotation
The rug itself became a measurement tool. After six washes the center pile flattened exactly where flops land, a visible wear map matching my written flop counts. Edge stitch stayed intact, cushion roll needed refluffing twice a week by shaking and rerolling. Chew watch is daily: I run a hand over rug edges feeling for lifted loops, 20 seconds. Two lifted loops found in month two were trimmed flat with scissors and noted with C, then watched for a week, no repeat chewing at those spots. Rotation plan: 180 degrees every Sunday, flip side monthly. Without rotation the curl returned in 10 days in my first test. With rotation the rug lay flat for 5 weeks straight. Summer note: on days above 30 degrees the rug sat empty and tile won 3 of 4 rests, heat beats comfort in my log, and that seasonal flip is marked H so winter comparisons stay fair.
Final note: one spot done well beats three spots half done. Rug flat, edge rolled, tray 40 cm away, photo from the chair, wash Sundays. My month shows full lounging move in two days and cleaner tile ever since. Next I will link this makeover with my flop diary so rug flops and tile flops read as one rest story.
Sheet and photos together prove it.
Rug year in review: twelve washes, zero curls (rotation credited), one wear patch mapped precisely to flop coordinates. The rug outlasted two hide boxes and one curtain. Replacement fund started; current rug holding beautifully. Measure twice, rotate always.
Rug flat, tray stocked, flops counted. The wear patch grows; the log grows with it.
One spot, washed Sundays, flopped nightly. Wear mapped; comfort confirmed.
Rug season complete; rotation eternal.
